Waring FS800 Pro Electric Food Slicer Review

A handful of reviews are available for Waring FS800 Pro Electric Food Slicer and those who were pleased with its performance stated that it’s a great food slicer for the home kitchen. It works great for anything from bacon to tomatoes and has a powerful motor and a very sharp blade with infinite thickness adjustments up to a ½ inch. It is easy to clean and very well-built with a carriage that lifts to expose running surfaces for a quick cleanup. All parts seem to be made of high quality, durable materials.

Some reviewers whined about the blade that comes with a big sticker and needs to be removed with a strong solvent. The stainless-steel and die-cast aluminum construction promises great performance, but the undersized electric motor limits this slicer to very light intermittent household use. In addition, the Waring FS800 seems to have a barely adequate motor when brand new with a new sharp blade. You just can’t imagine how it will perform when the blade gets a little dull. Disappointed users commented that this is definitely not a professional-quality food slicer, and that it’s only a light intermittent-duty slicer at best.

Users appreciated that this slicer is heavy which helps it stay put to allow two hands to work; one to push the food and the other to stack it neatly.  It is all-steel and looks nice. It’s fairly easy to clean up as the blade removes easily. The thickness control is a little stiff but it stays where you set it. It’s a good value compared to some slicers in the same price range. One great thing about this slicer is that users don’t need to press the food on to the blade so hard that it stops running because the tilt of the feed tray does it.

The reviews for Waring FS800 Pro Electric Food Slicer are quite mixed, and the main issue is its quality. The positive reviews outweigh the negative ones. On the question of quality, we can say that this is not a commercial-quality slicer and it wasn’t advertised as one. Based on its performance, it’s designed for light-duty home use. Comparing it with other expensive, commercial-grade slicer is like comparing a tomato to an apple which can lead to frustration. It has a very good price for a slicer and it works really well for regular home slicing tasks.
